Winter is approaching quickly and that means dry, cracked skin and dry, brittle hair! It seems the more snow we get, the drier the air and the more damage to your hair and skin. Thankfully, at Chad & Co., we have some great products that can help to combat our dry winter air.
Our expert stylists also wanted to share some tips for you to practice at home during the winter to help keep your hair and skin protected and moisturized.
Avoid direct heat. This includes your fireplace, a heater, and even your styling tools! Sitting right in front of a heat source or open flame will deplete the moisture from your skin, causing dryness and scaly, cracked skin. Using your styling tools cranked up to the hottest settings will also dry out your hair, making it brittle and prone to breaking. Our Miracle Leave-In repairs hair damage by sealing split and broken ends, adding hydration, and controlling frizzy hair from heat damage.
Invest in a humidifier. When the humidity drops, adding humidity to the air is important for rehydrating your skin. Humidifiers add moisture in your indoor air to alleviate dryness and irritation to the skin that cold, dry weather creates. Try our Silk Leave-In, which is a botanical rich leave-in conditioner that controls curly and frizzy hair for manageable, shiny hair. The infusion of biotin strengthens the hair follicles and the coconut oil adds deep moisturization and conditioning.
Cut down on the steaming baths and showers. In the dead of winter when it’s the coldest, this is a hard thing, but hot water can really dry out your skin and cause skin inflammation, redness, and itching. It also can strip away your skin’s natural oils that wreak havoc on the natural moisture balance. Same goes with the hair – your hair contains natural oils that keep your scalp and hair nourished. Hot water will strip your strands of that essential natural oil and cause your hair to become dry and brittle. Our Miracle Conditioner has keratin to repair and condition, aloe vera to moisturize and strengthen the hair, chamomile to soothe, and coconut oil to detangle and smooth your hair.
Use a good quality moisturizer. After a shower, be sure to add a moisturizer to your skin to ensure that while your pores are open, the moisturizer is trapped into your skin to help it last all day long.
Moisturize your skin after a shave. Men, besides hot water and the natural elements, shaving your face daily can cause dryness, irritation, and razor bumps on your skin. To keep your face hydrated, be sure to use Post Shave to reduce pores, add nutrients to your skin, and add hydration. This will also aid in retaining moisture so that your skin stays supple all day long. You can reapply any time of day to rehydrate as needed!
Protect men’s hair and skin. Another great product that restores life into both dry overdone hair and dry skin is our Shave Cream Conditioner. Not only can you use it for your scalp and hair but you can also use it as a shaving lotion! It will strengthen and nourish hair fibers while the peppermint and tea tree oil will soothe and moisturize your skin after shaving.
